Online courses may promote faculty innovation by requiring professors to develop new course materials that function well in an online environment. Distance education allows those students who can't make the commute to campus to take accredited courses in their major. If you so choose, online education gives you the opportunity to take difficult courses that won't show up on your transcript. Alternatively, you may be able to complete online credits for a grade. Advanced Placement exams (AP Exams) are offered in a variety of subjects, offering college credit for classes that you've taken. Test yourself with free practice exams, before visiting the official College Board website to register. If you earn a score of 3 or higher on an AP subject exam, you may be granted advanced placement in college.

Graduates with either a bachelors or associates degree typically earn 60% more than employees holding only a high school diploma, adding up to a $750,000 differential in lifetime earnings. If you can pass the rigorous training program, nursing jobs are increasingly available, due to the aging US population, as well as the proliferation of healthcare services. Occupational therapists treat patients with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities through the therapeutic application of directed activities. Occupational therapy assistants work under the direction of occupational therapists in treating patients. Registered nurses (RN), and licensed vocational nurses (LVN), provide patient care and emotional support. Diagnostic medical sonographers use ultrasound imaging equipment that directs sound waves into a patient’s body in order to diagnose medical conditions.

Research various nursing degree programs that meet your requirements. The CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) is the first step in becoming a nurse. Most CNA programs can be completed within a few months, allowing you to begin working immediately. The next step after the CNA degree is to become an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) or LVN ( Licensed Vocational Nurse). 1-year nursing certificate programs train students to pass the licensing test to become LPNs or LVNs. Students will receive classroom instruction and clinical training in hospitals and other medical settings. Although ASN programs provide students with nursing training, a bachelor's degree provides greater clinical experiences. An RN has to cope with more responsibility, and oversees the work of LPNs and CNAs under their supervision. Please check with your state board of nursing for practical details and specific exams that you must pass in order to become board certified.
